Where to begin? The Grand Canyon is certainly a once-in-a-lifetime, bucket-list type of place. It also made me feel exceedingly small: a tiny dot in an immense universe.
Various shuttle buses transported us between the main sights along the South Rim. They ran to very strict timetables ("we've still got 25 seconds before we leave this stop") and some of the drivers were comedians too ("this is the closest view you'll get from the bus ... hopefully"). We walked 3 miles or so along the Rim Path, very carefully.
At one viewpoint we stopped to listen to a very knowledgeable tour-guide describing the geological history of the Grand Canyon, who spoke with such passion for his subject. We're now much better informed about plate tectonics and erosion! Needless to say I took dozens of photos, which will take time to sort out properly. In the meantime, here's a few to provide a sense of place.
